Palringo screencast: PDA and smartphone instant messaging

Blackberries are known for their ability to communicate through email. Sure you can punch away at your cell phone in “txt spk” but what if you could stay in touch with folks on the IM services you’ve already been using for years?
Welcome Palringo. A recent startup from the UK, Palringo is offering just that by allowing you to take your already-established Google Talk, Yahoo, AIM, Jabber and MSN Messenger friends along for the ride.
Screencast
My screencast will showcase Palringo on the Windows Mobile 2003 platform.
Supported IM Protocols include Palringo, Google Talk, MSN Messenger, ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo, AIM, and Gadu-Gadu.
Supported platforms include Windows, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Linux and Java.

The interface is clean and simple. Memory is scarce on mobile devices so I was worried about running Palringo in the background when also running with my TomTom GPS Navigation unit, but Palringo kept humming away and collecting messages.
Both wireless and Bluetooth GPRS/EDGE provide enough bandwidth to use Palringo.
Truth be told, I was against PDA’s for years. My impression was that everyone who had one simply read their email and had short attention spans. Since last year, I’ve expanded my knowledge on just what these little devices do and Palringo is certainly an application I would recommend to keep on your PDA shortlist.
Please share your experiences with Palringo on other platforms like Symbian, or the Palringo desktop clients for Windows and Linux.
