Get More From SmugMug Slideshows

I have hundreds of photos online, shared through my SmugMug account. SmugMug has many nice features, one of them is their slideshow implementation. SmugMug slideshows display annotations (titles, captions) for photos however this option is not turned on by default. Annotations add useful information to the slideshow, so I want to make sure friends and family know how to enable these options. Additionally, SmugMug slideshows support fading transitions and can be controlled with keyboard commands. These options are easy to miss if you are new to SmugMug, so I’ve prepared the following text and video tutorials to help you enabled these options.
How to enable captions and fade transitions for SmugMug slideshows
- select a gallery
- select the slideshow button (resize this window if necessary)
- pause the slideshow to setup options
- click the “caption” checkbox
- click the “fade” checkbox
- adjust the duration if necessary (I choose 2 seconds)
Now you can enjoy annotations and fade transitions in your SmugMug slideshows!
How to use video tutorial
- View this page with one of the following browsers where Flash is installed: Firefox, Opera, Camino, Safari (IE does not animate properly)
- Click the green arrows to progress through the video steps
Note: the gallery owner may have already set the default “Style” to “slideshow.” If that is the case, the checkboxes for caption and fade will already be checked. If slideshow is not the default Style, instead of configuring the options as above, you can select slideshow from the Style dropdown menu.
