                    Backflip is closed source.
Foxmarks is slow like when synchronizing if you have a big bookarks file and your connection is busy uploading stuff.
Bookmark Base is Windows of course, so no linux or nothing
Google, well.. Google..

Chipmarks above all gives you the folder structure AND tags. Right above all the other great features.

And If you miss polish or something, well, you're welcome to help out. Besides, these days, it looks really polished ^^

still didn't see google listed on here, so here it is:

http://www.google.com/bookmarks/

It does allow you to import ie favorites, albeit the best interface to do so, and I had trouble with the google toolbar extension portion in my browser (maxthon), but it still does have the web based interface going for it.

I would like to recommend you **[Bookmark Base](http://www.bookmarkbase.com/download/)**: portable bookmark manager for Windows.

A new service I found recently was **Foxmarks**. It seems to be quite speedy and works from within the normal bookmarks in Firefox. You can get the extension at [Foxmarks](https://addons.mozilla.org/addon.php?id=2410). You can also access your bookmarks at the website [my.foxcloud.net](http://my.foxcloud.com "my.foxcloud.net"). It also has a nice wiki page at [www.foxcloud.com](http://www.foxcloud.com "www.foxcloud.com") where you can post bug reports or lookup specifics on how to use this little gem. Plus it seems to be one of the speediest synchronizing extensions there is. It does require you to register to use it, and registration for the wiki was seperate; other than that it was quite simple to setup.

Live Favorites allows to export/import Netscape bookmark formats. This way you avoid installing ActiveX control. But the ActiveX control makes live much easier and is signed with a certificate.

I have to recommend another web bookmark service, free, and working for several years (I'm a member for 5 years already!). Itīs **Backflip** at [www.backflip.com](http://www.backflip.com "www.backflip.com"), and enables the user to impor/export bookmarks from browsers. You can put a button to "backflip" the URL you are visiting at any time. You can organize things with folders and sub-folders, make any of the folders public, and put comments on the bookmarks. It doesn't have "tags" but you can search trough the URLs and the comments. I have **+7000 bookmarks** in there, and i use it to share some of them with my class students (i'm a university teacher). I thought your review very useful to know other similar services.

You can only use Windows Live Favorites with Internet Explorer, as the article states. You can import Firefox bookmarks, or bookmarks from del.icio.us as you mentioned, but you are limited to using the application within IE only. Personally I use Firefox as my current primary browser, but many use IE.

I wanted to try the Windows Live thing especially since it imports from del.icio.us.

The problem is that, this functionality requires ActiveX so you can't do it using Firefox.

Try it..
