DVD Shrink is a lightweight, freeware, windows application that makes DVD burning easy. If you have a DVD burning drive, you can rip and burn a DVD by following just a few steps. A couple of years ago, I would have to use something like DVD Decrypter to decode the built-in encryption on the DVD, then rip the disc to an image on my hard drive, then use a burning utility like Nero to burn the image. DVD Shrink simplifies this process, down to one click if you have two optical drives.

Zoho Writer is an online word processor, a competing product to the arguably more popular Writely web application, that I first saw in this TechCrunch article. Zoho Writer has some common functionality with Writely, including the ability to upload Word documents (and other formats), post your documents to a blog, generate Word Doc, HTML files, PDF and OpenOffice SXW format, keep version information and allow you to browse changes.

RSS readers (feed readers) come in all shapes and forms. There are some that run on your desktop; some that run strictly over the web; and different flavors for both Windows and Mac platforms.
Both desktop readers and web-based readers offer different features and benefits.
A desktop reader is physical software, which runs on your local computer - so it typically offers many more features and capabilities, than a web-based reader would.
